Is Your Vacuum Cleaner Working Properly?


If your vacuum cleaner isn't picking up as well as it used to, or maybe it's making a funny noise, something is rattling, or it generally isn't cleaning properly, then it might looking at and repairing.

Here's what you need to know.

1. A blocked hose could be the reason it's not picking dust and debris very well. A coin, or something else, might be blocking the pipe. Why not have a look as see if you can see what the problem is.

2. When was the last time you checked the filter on your vacuum cleaner? A blocked filter can stop your vacuum working properly. It's a good idea to have spare filters, so that you can put a new one in as soon as it needs changing.

3. A cracked hose might not be obvious, so if your cleaner is losing suction, it's worth looking at the hose. You'll need to replace it if it is cracked.

4. A blocked or clogged brush can mean that the brushes don't pick up properly. Have a look to make sure that pet hair, strands of thread, or anything else isn't caught round the brushes.

5. A damaged power cable can cause the cleaner to cut out intermittently. The power lead has a really tough life, and so it's no wonder that it sometimes gets damaged. You'll need to replace it rather than repair it, as it might also be damaged further down the cable, and you might still have the same problem.

6. Broken wheels can make a vacuum hard to maneuver. If the wheels on your cleaner are damaged, or broken, why not get a new set and see if you can clean your home quickly and easily.

7. A motor problem can often be diagnosed by a burning smell when the vacuum is in use. It's often possible to replace the motor, so you won't always have to buy a new vacuum cleaner.

8. If you can't clean your home effectively, it might be that you're not using the right tools. A crevice tool, or a longer hose or wand can make cleaning your stair, furniture and the top of your curtains much easier and safer.

9. Depending on where you store your vacuum cleaner, their might be a risk of thinks falling on to it, or it falling over. If you cram it into a cupboard, then you might damage it. you'll need to take care of your vacuum, so that it will continue to provide the performance you need.

10. You'll want to make sure that if you repair your vacuum cleaner, it's cost effective. You don't want to spend more on parts than a new cleaner would cost. Buy buying parts online you're bound to save time as well as money.
